Veterans Day brings a familiar tradition back to Benbrook: local and national restaurants offering free meals, coffee, and treats as a simple thank you to those who served.
A wide range of spots are participating this year, giving veterans plenty of choices from breakfast to dinner.
Coffee lovers can start their day with a free iced or cold brew from Starbucks, or swing by Dunkin or Krispy Kreme for a complimentary donut. Smoothie King is offering a free smoothie from noon to 3 p.m., while IHOP is serving its red, white, and blueberry combo at no cost.
Breakfast favorites continue with Denny’s giving out its Grand Slam and Cracker Barrel offering a Sunrise Pancake Special. For lunch or dinner, veterans can enjoy free meals at Applebee’s, Bob Evans, Red Robin, Golden Corral, and TGI Fridays, which is serving free meals between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
It is a yearly gesture that continues to matter. These meals may be simple, but they represent the gratitude of communities like Benbrook toward the men and women who have worn the uniform.
