Benbrook Middle High School is spending the week of November 14 through 21 focused on heart health, lifesaving skills, and a little friendly competition.
The campus has partnered with the American Heart Association for its One Week to Save Lives initiative, offering students hands-on opportunities to learn CPR, recognize stroke symptoms, and understand the risks associated with vaping and tobacco.
During high school lunches, students can stop by the AHA table to win prizes, pick up resources, and learn how to register for Finn’s Mission at www.heart.org/schools. Once they choose their grade, select Texas, and type in Benbrook, they can join the school’s team and begin the mission.
Completing Finn’s Mission comes with real benefits. High school students earn eight hours of service learning credit and a chance to be entered into a national drawing for five pairs of tickets to the 2027 Super Bowl. Seniors can qualify for a graduation cord by sending 10 awareness messages through the AHA platform and can also apply for an AHA scholarship. Middle school students who participate earn a whole week of free dress days.
Benbrook is also squaring off against Paschal and Arlington Heights in a campus-wide participation challenge, adding a fun, competitive twist to the learning.
The school hopes as many students as possible will take part. By the end of the week, the goal is simple: build a campus full of lifesavers who know how to protect their own hearts and those around them.
