It was a proud moment for Western Hills High School this week as Seaman Landon Whittaker, a recent graduate and former AFJROTC cadet, returned to campus for a surprise visit with Colonel Malesky, MSgt Ayala, and the Charlie Flight unit.
Fresh from completing nine weeks of U.S. Coast Guard Boot Camp in Cape May, New Jersey, Whittaker shared stories from his training and reflected on how his four years in Western Hills’ AFJROTC program prepared him for the challenges and discipline of military service.
He is now headed to Mobile, Alabama, where he will serve aboard a Buoy Tender, ensuring coastal navigation and safety before beginning advanced training later this year.
Whittaker’s visit was more than a homecoming—it was a reminder of how dedication and leadership take root early, right in the halls of Western Hills High.
