Dutch Branch Creek Crossing to Close Oct. 29 for Culvert Work.

If Lake Shore Drive is your shortcut through Dutch Branch Park, plan ahead now.

The low water crossing behind the stables and ball fields will close starting October 29 for maintenance and a full culvert replacement. The city expects to reopen the gate in early January once the work is complete.

Neighbors are already asking smart questions. With the crossing closed, more drivers will filter to U.S. 377. Parents have suggested a traffic light to help students and families cross safely. Others want to know whether the new culvert will raise the road enough to avoid future low-water closures.

The city has not announced traffic changes yet, but officials welcome input. Send questions or suggestions to hhaseloff@benbrook-tx.gov.

In the meantime, give yourself extra time, watch for park traffic, and be patient with game-day congestion. Short-term hassle now should mean a safer, stronger crossing for years to come.
