Benbrook Percussion Section Marches Forward with Community Support.

A little rain could not stop the rhythm. Despite a drizzly Saturday morning last month, the Benbrook Percussion Section drew an impressive crowd for their car wash fundraiser. The group says the community’s support struck a major chord, helping them raise enough to purchase much-needed equipment and upgrades.

Their recent earnings were invested in electronic synthesizer gear, new drum heads, mallets, rims, and mallet racks for the middle school program, as well as a replacement bar for the marimba. Each piece helps keep their growing collection of instruments performance-ready and in tune with the program’s needs.

Now, the group is gearing up for its next event, a Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A on November 10, inviting residents to dine and donate in support of local music education. Under the direction of Dr. Garcia, the percussion team continues to show how practice, passion, and community partnership make great music possible.
