Health, Loss, and Dust: Why Benbrook Neighbors Are Speaking Out.

In Trinity Estates, frustration is mounting as residents claim their health and quality of life are being compromised for the sake of construction and quick profits.

For over a year, neighbors have been pleading with Benbrook city officials to address severe dust pollution linked to development in the area. Despite repeated complaints, they say little has changed.

One resident, Greg Clem, shared his grief after the sudden death of his 17-month-old German Shepherd, Penny, from a collapsed lung. He believes ongoing exposure to dust played a role and called the cityโ€™s lack of response unacceptable. Clemโ€™s July email to city leaders described not only the loss of his dog but also reports of neighbors struggling with chronic coughs and respiratory problems. Still, no citations have been issued, and accountability remains absent.

Recently, a water truck was parked near the site, but residents claim it has not been used, resulting in daily clouds of dust drifting through their neighborhood. With 30,000 cubic yards of dirt piled nearby, no one seems to know where it came from, adding more questions to a long list of concerns.

Neighbors describe coughing fits after spending just a short time outside, and see the cityโ€™s inaction as a failure to protect its citizens. Many now say if officials will not act, the next step may be legal action.

Residents are urging accountability, calling for real enforcement and transparency. For now, they continue to document the dust and share their stories publicly, hoping city leaders will finally treat this not as an inconvenience, but as a matter of public health and safety.
