Walking your child to school is one of the best ways to beat the traffic and set a positive tone for the day. Parents who take the time to do it deserve credit. But there is a growing safety concern near Rolling Hills Elementary that needs attention.
Some parents have been parking on the corner where cars exit the school onto Orchard Way. Because that corner is not a four-way stop, vehicles parked there block sightlines, making it difficult for drivers to see oncoming traffic. While many cars slow down out of caution, not everyone does, and it is only a matter of time before a close call turns into an accident.
The request is simple: if you are walking your child to school, please avoid parking right on the corner. It may take an extra minute to find another spot, but it could prevent a dangerous situation.
Keeping the corner clear keeps children, parents, and drivers safe — and ensures the morning walk stays a joyful start to the day.
