Before you light the grill or grab a lawn chair for fireworks, Westpark’s Fun Fact Friday is here to load you up with some red, white, and wow.
Each year on the Fourth of July, Americans consume approximately 150 million hot dogs. Laid end-to-end, that’s enough to stretch across the country more than five times. Fireworks became part of the tradition just a year after the Declaration of Independence, with the first celebratory blasts in 1777. And while we now belt out the Star-Spangled Banner at nearly every patriotic event, it didn’t officially become the national anthem until 1931.
Whether you’re heading out for a show or staying close to home, have a fun and safe Fourth.
