It was one of those meetings where everything seemed to click.

Two weeks ago at the O.D. Wyatt Chaparral Relays, Western Hills Track and Field delivered a performance that gave Benbrook residents plenty to notice.

Across both boys’ and girls’ teams, the Cougars set 15 personal records and brought home top finishes that reflected steady growth and confidence on the track and in the field.

The headline moment came from freshman Jael Adadzi, who put together a standout day with three first-place finishes in the long jump, 100-meter hurdles, and 300-meter hurdles. Each event came with a personal best, setting the tone for the rest of the team.

The JV girls group added depth to the day. Eriโ€™Onna Titues turned in strong runs in both the 200 and 400, improving her times, while Vivian Maina placed in the 800 and 1600.

In the field, Kayla Roberts and Layla James both recorded personal bests in discus, showing progress that matched the teamโ€™s overall momentum.

On the boys’ side, JV athletes continued the push. Christopher Robertson placed in both hurdle events, and Jaiden Tannis secured a top-three finish in the 1600. Several field athletes added personal bests, including Jaโ€™Res Gray in both shot put and discus.

At the varsity level, the Cougars continued to build. Josh Oliver earned a podium finish in the 110-meter hurdles, while multiple athletes in jumps and throws recorded personal bests, signaling a program trending upward.

For a program that continues to grow, this meet felt like a marker. Not just for medals or placements, but for progress that shows up in small gains and personal bests.

The Cougars left the Wyatt Relays with encouraging results and with momentum and a clear sense that more is on the way.
