Three gyms were jumping Saturday as Benbrook Middle-High School hosted The Brook volleyball tournament, and the Lady Bobcats gave the home crowd plenty to watch.
The Lady Bobcats opened Gold Bracket play against Gatesville and quickly found themselves in a fight.

After dropping the first set 25-21, the Lady Bobcats answered with a convincing 25-12 win. The deciding set turned into a back-and-forth nail-biter before Benbrook escaped with a 17-16 victory to advance.
That set up another three-set battle, this time against Trinity Valley. The Lady Bobocats survived a marathon opening set 30-28, but Trinity Valley responded 25-15 in the second.

The deciding set remained tight until a late miscommunication allowed a returnable ball to fall between two Lady Bobcats, sending Trinity Valley to the championship and Benbrook to the third-place match.
With little time to recover and a few injuries from the previous match, the Lady Bobcats regrouped against crosstown rival Arlington Heights.
Benbrook took the opener 25-18 before the Lady Yellowjackets answered 25-10. Facing another deciding set, the Lady Bobcats pushed through and closed out Arlington Heights 15-11 to claim third place on their home court.
Pantego Christian ultimately won the Brook Championship, defeating Trinity Valley in the final. Led by 6-foot-3 senior outside hitter and Gonzaga commit Natalie Norton, the Lady Panthers opened the championship match with a 28-26 win before completing their tournament run.
Pantego leaves Benbrook as champion, Trinity Valley finishes runner-up, and the host Lady Bobcats take third.
For the Lady Bobcats, it was a long Saturday filled with tight sets, injuries, and plenty of adversity. They still walked away 6-2 on the season with some hardware to show for it.
