BENBROOK, TX — This Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., North Texas residents have a unique opportunity to adopt a pet for free during NBC 5 and Telemundo 39’s Clear the Shelters Day. Adoption fees will be waived at most participating shelters for this one-day-only event.
This event is part of a month-long initiative, running through September 10, where several shelters are also waiving fees to encourage adoption. However, some shelters may still apply other fees, so it’s best to check with local shelters for specific details.
As shelters experience an influx of animals, the need for loving homes is greater than ever. More than 66,000 pets in North Texas have found their homes through this initiative, and nationally, over 1 million pets have been adopted through Clear the Shelters.
To adopt, potential pet parents must be at least 18 years old and provide a valid driver’s license or state ID, along with proof of residency if necessary.
Visit the Humane Society of North Texas’ Benbrook location at 9009 Benbrook Blvd. to participate in the event or check www.cleartheshelters.com for more information.
