As the 2017/18 school year approaches, Coach Cody Slater gears up for another season as the Benbrook Bobcats head football coach.
Armed with 30 returning lettermen and an all-district running back, Coach Slater is optimistic about continuing to build a winning tradition at Benbrook High School. Benbrook Life sat down with Coach Slater to discuss his goals for the upcoming season, the team’s preparation, and what fans can expect on Friday nights.
With the return of key players and a solid foundation of experience, Coach Slater emphasized the importance of teamwork, discipline, and a relentless work ethic. “We’re building something special here,” he shared. “Our players have been working hard in the offseason, and we’re ready to take the next step as a program.”
Coach Slater also highlighted the leadership of the senior class, particularly the returning all-district running back, who has been a standout on and off the field. “He sets the tone for the team with his dedication and performance,” Slater noted. “Having someone like him in the backfield gives us a big advantage.”
Benbrook fans can look forward to an exciting season filled with intense matchups and plenty of heart. “Our community support has been incredible,” Slater said. “We want to make them proud every time we step on the field.”
