Benbrook and other parts of North Texas were hit hard Sunday afternoon as severe storms dropped everything from pea to grapefruit-size hail.
In Benbrook, most hailstones landed between pea and golf-ball size, rattling rooftops and cars as the skies opened up. Driving conditions took a dangerous turn along the I-20/820 Loop as heavy rain reduced visibility and created slick roads.
Eastbound traffic just past the Winscott Road overpass came to a crawl after a Nissan Altima coupe hydroplaned and crashed into the median. The carโs front end became partially buried in the soft, soaked ground, but no fatalities were reported.
More updates will follow as information becomes available.
