Benbrook and Southwest Fort Worth residents are navigating a frustrating Tuesday evening into the night after a large-scale power outage swept through the area just before 7 p.m., knocking out traffic lights and impacting thousands of homes and businesses.
Major intersections along Bryant Irvin Road, Oakmont Boulevard, and Overton Ridge—especially those connecting to Chisholm Trail Parkway—went dark, leading to gridlock and dangerous driving conditions.
Drivers reported that traffic lights were completely out, with emergency sirens sounding off throughout the evening. Oncor’s outage map indicated over 5,000 customers were without power, with a hopeful restoration window set for 10 p.m.
Though a few spots saw a brief flicker of power earlier in the evening, most of the area remained dark as of 8:40 p.m. Target and Albertsons in the area are still operational if you need immediate supplies, but expect slow traffic and delays.
This is a developing situation—residents are encouraged to drive cautiously, check on neighbors, and stay tuned for updates as more information becomes available.
