Benbrook residents traveling westbound on I-20 this afternoon likely experienced serious delays after a major accident near the 7800 block of Wolf Hollow in Brock.
Just before 2 p.m., a vehicle reportedly went off a bridge and into a tree-lined embankment, leading to a dramatic rescue.
Brock-Dennis Fire, EMS, and law enforcement responded quickly, with Engine 39 and Medic 41 initiating a rope rescue on the west side of the bridge to free an individual trapped in the vehicle.
With multiple emergency units on the scene, authorities urged drivers to use caution and take alternate routes. Inside lanes in both directions were blocked for several hours, with backups stretching well into the afternoon.
By 4 p.m., the scene was finally cleared, and all lanes were reopened to regular traffic. No further details have been released yet regarding injuries or the cause of the crash.
This remains a developing story, and updates will be shared as more information becomes available from officials.
