Dave Campbell’s Apologizes After Troubled Website, App Launch.

•

A major update meant to improve how Texas high school football fans follow Friday nights instead left many unable to follow them at all.

Dave Campbell’s Texas Sports issued a public apology after problems with its newly launched website and app culminated in a Friday night outage. President Adam Hochfelder acknowledged that the rollout had fallen short, just two days after the new platform went live.

According to Hochfelder, users reported losing saved favorite teams, paid subscribers being told they did not have subscriptions, difficulty watching games on televisions, and the disappearance of familiar features. Those frustrations grew Friday when the platform went down entirely.

The company said the new platform was originally expected to launch during the summer, but development took longer than planned. Rather than wait another year, Dave Campbell’s chose to make the switch during football season.

“We hoped what we delivered would make it worth it. It didn’t,” Hochfelder wrote.

The company says its first priority is improving stability and reliability. From there, work will focus on restoring and improving core features, including finding and following teams, scores and rankings, and streaming games to televisions.

Hochfelder said the problems will not be solved with a single update, but the company plans to communicate with users as fixes are made.

For Texas high school football fans who depend on Dave Campbell’s for scores, schedules, and Friday night streams, the message was simple: the company knows the rollout went badly, and now it has work to do.
