Signal Issue Snarls Traffic at 377 and Mercedes.

A malfunctioning traffic signal at U.S. 377 and Mercedes Street caused delays Monday morning, leaving some drivers waiting nearly 10 minutes.

One resident said the westbound light toward Walgreens and Russell Feed & Supply failed to change while the other directions continued cycling. Several drivers eventually ran the red light to get through.

After the resident contacted Benbrook Police’s non-emergency line, an officer responded and used the pedestrian crossing button, which appeared to get the signal cycling again. The resident said police planned to report the issue to TxDOT.

Residents say similar signal problems have occurred recently at the same intersection and at Timbercreek Road and Winscott Road.

The cause has not been confirmed. Drivers who encounter a malfunctioning signal are encouraged to report it rather than risk running the light.
