A loud boom caught the attention of several Benbrook residents around 5 p.m. Thursday, and some initially wondered whether it came from the passing storm.
Residents near Winscott Road reported hearing a sudden, unusually loud noise as rain, lightning and thunder moved through the area. One person said it sounded like it happened right on their street, while another reported losing power shortly afterward.
According to neighbors in the area, the boom appears to have come from a transformer near Winscott Road. Residents farther away, including along John Reagan Street, reported hearing the storm but receiving little or no rain.
No additional details about the transformer or the extent of the outage were immediately available.
