Bobcats Cross Country Hit Their Stride at Glen Rose.

Benbrook cross country runners turned in a strong showing at the Glen Rose Invitational at Dinosaur Valley State Park, with the JV boys winning the team title and the varsity boys finishing second. Both the varsity and JV girls placed sixth.

Dylan Gonzales led the varsity boys with a fourth-place finish in 18:07.81. Benjamin Brown finished 15th in 19:45.44, followed by Nathaniel Brown in 16th at 19:49.44 and Elijah Lopez in 18th at 20:02.37.

Bridger Clegg placed 24th, Kyler Parsons finished 28th, with Alexander Carvalho and Joaquin Koppes rounding out Benbrook’s listed varsity boys.

Molly Helm led varsity girls with a 19th-place finish in 14:50.80. Madison Norman placed 33rd, Heidi Gonzalez 47th, Trinity Tiner 51st, Eleanor Vazquez 53rd, Gemma Lackey 54th, Maggie Plummer 67th and Eve Carnegie 68th.

The JV boys packed the front of the field on their way to first place. Victor Espino finished second in 21:46.86, Andrew Sandoval third in 21:58.39 and Owen Abraham fifth in 22:37.30.

Brady Ball placed seventh, Enrique Colunga ninth, and Rafael Sanchez 10th. Ben Arnall finished 15th, Alex Troqe 18th, Camdon Hall 24th, Ayoyinka Taiwo 36th and Ryan McCure 41st.

For the JV girls, Jolie Hornbeck led Benbrook in the 3200, placing 37th with a time of 18:11.78. Anamaria Ortiz finished 40th at 18:28.65, followed closely by Lilyana Lara and Lillian Hatter in 42nd and 43rd.

Cheyenne Anderson, Gemma Andrews, Cadence Kratz, Andrea Chackee, Esme Stam, Charleigh McDaniel, Sofia Antonio and Sofia Murphy also represented Benbrook in the girls’ race.

With a team win, a runner-up finish, and strong performances throughout the lineup, it was a productive trip to Glen Rose for the Benbrook cross country program.
