That half-empty paint can is in the garage. The old batteries are tucked away in a drawer. The used cooking oil and automotive fluids are taking up space in the shed.
Benbrook residents will have a chance to safely dispose of household hazardous waste during the City’s Spring Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event on Saturday, June 13.
The drop-off event will take place from 9 to 11 a.m., or until the collection trailer reaches capacity, at the Dutch Branch Park Complex behind the Benbrook Lighted Par 3 & Range. Residents should follow posted signs and bring proof of Benbrook residency, such as a driver’s license or water bill.
City staff will be on site to direct traffic and assist with unloading accepted materials, which include many common household, garden, and automotive chemicals.
Residents should note that this is the only Household Hazardous Waste collection event currently scheduled in Benbrook for 2026.
A complete list of accepted items is available on the City’s website at Benbrook Household Hazardous Waste Information.
If there’s a garage shelf, storage cabinet, or corner of the workshop you’ve been meaning to clean out, this may be the perfect opportunity to do it safely and responsibly.
For those unable to attend, Benbrook residents may also dispose of hazardous waste year-round at the Fort Worth Environmental Collection Center at 6400 Bridge Street. For hours of operation, call 817-392-5257.
