Lady Bobcats Softball Tested by Iowa Park, Eyes Still Set on Postseason.

On most nights, the Benbrook Lady Bobcats have been in control.

Undefeated in district play and averaging 17 runs a game, they have looked every bit like a team headed for another title run. But Tuesday afternoon at Dutch Branch Park offered a different kind of test.

Facing Iowa Park Lady Hawks in a non-district matchup, the Lady Bobcats ran into a team that matched them pitch for pitch early and then pulled away late.

After a tight start through the first three innings, the Lady Hawks broke things open in the fourth and fifth, scoring eight combined runs before closing out a 10-0 win under the mercy rule.

Madison Canada started in the circle, settling in after an early run allowed, while Mya Vasquez provided a bright spot at the plate with two hits. Still, offense was hard to come by against a sharp Iowa Park defense and pitching staff.

The loss highlights a clear contrast. In district play, Benbrook has dominated. Against strong non-district opponents, the margin has been much tighter.

Coaches and players see games like this as part of the process. These are the matchups that reveal where adjustments are needed before the postseason begins.

The Lady Bobcats now sit at 16-12 overall and 9-0 in district. They return to district play Friday at home against Carter Riverside, a team they defeated earlier this season.
