Cold Start Costs Bobcats in Tight Soccer Tournament Loss.

After rolling past Palacios with a dominant 5-0 win, the Benbrook Bobcats boys soccer team returned to tournament play early Saturday morning, hoping to build momentum.

Instead, a cold and sluggish start proved costly against a motivated Alief Hastings squad.

The Bears, coming off two earlier tournament losses, played with urgency from the opening whistle and struck first in the opening half.

Benbrook struggled to find its rhythm on both sides of the ball, but showed resilience after the break, answering with a second-half goal to even the score.

That momentum was short-lived. Alief Hastings responded with a go-ahead goal that sealed the outcome and handed the Bobcats their first tournament loss. Benbrook exits the match 1-2 in tournament play and 2-3 overall on the season.

The Bobcats now turn their attention to a road test, heading to Mineral Wells to face the Rams on Tuesday night at 7 pm, looking to reset and regain their form.
