The Great Benbrook Burrito Hunt Has a Few Tasty Twists.

โ€ข

A simple question sparked a full-blown food search across Benbrook this week. Someone asked about a burrito shop they had heard about, and the answers came fast, passionate, and a little all over the map.

The name that kept popping up was Burrito Kings.

Several locals pointed to its spot off Highway 377 near 1187, while others clarified that it is located in the old Gilliganโ€™s Pizza building south of Benbrook. A few mentioned seeing it listed as temporarily closed, which only added to the confusion.

One thing was clear, though. Expectations were high, and not everyone walked away impressed.

That led to more recommendations. One local favorite is the Taqueria tucked into the shell building at Mercedes and Winscott, across from City Hall. It has quietly built a reputation not just for tacos but also for surprisingly good burgers and fries.

Others suggested looking toward Whiskey Flats, where Burrito Kings is said to share space near Bubbaโ€™s Bait Shop. Same building, not a food truck, despite the rumors.

A few people guessed it might be 3 Parrots Taco Shop, though that idea was quickly shut downโ€”different vibe, different menu.

One name that stood out with zero debate was Pappis Tacos and More, located just outside Benbrook by the traffic circle. More than one resident said nothing else compares.

In true Benbrook fashion, the conversation turned into neighbors helping neighbors eat better.

Whether you are chasing burritos, tacos, or just trying to figure out what is actually open, the takeaway is simple.

We have more good local food options than we sometimes realize, and half the fun is swapping tips until you find your new go-to spot.
