Lady Cougars Look for First Breakthrough as Basketball Season Opens Tough.

Western Hills fans know grit when they see it, and the Lady Cougars are trying to tap into plenty of it right now.

Much like their boys team, the girls squad has stumbled out of the gate, starting the season 0-6 and taking another brutal hit Tuesday night against the Eagle Mountain Knights. The final score was 62-12, a reminder of how steep the climb has been on both ends of the court.

So far, the Lady Cougars have given up an average of 55 points per game while putting up 11 of their own. It is a gap that tells the story of a team still learning how to find rhythm, confidence, and consistency. Even so, anyone who has followed high school sports long enough knows that early-season struggles can be the ground where resilience grows.

Now at 0-7, the Lady Cougars head into tournament play this week with hopes of resetting their season and grabbing their first win. After that, they shift into district play on December 16 at 7:30 pm, taking on the Eastern Hills Lady Highlanders.

Benbrook neighbors who love a good comeback story might want to keep an eye on this group. A breakthrough may be closer than it looks.
