As Texans prepare to hit the road for Thanksgiving, the Department of Public Safety is urging drivers to take extra care during one of the busiest travel weeks of the year.
Heavier traffic often leads to an uptick in crashes, and officials want residents to head into the holiday focused and prepared.
Drivers are encouraged to stay alert, avoid distractions, follow posted speed limits, and always buckle up. DPS also reminds travelers to move over or slow down for stopped vehicles, never drive under the influence, and to plan for delays by allowing extra time.
The message is simple: safe choices behind the wheel help ensure families arrive at their holiday gatherings without incident.
