The Western Hills Cougars boys basketball team hit the road Friday night looking to build early season momentum against the South Hills Scorpions.
The matchup drew a full gym, and both teams delivered the kind of tight, back and forth game that keeps a crowd leaning forward.
Western Hills stayed within striking distance all night, trading stops and baskets as the clock wound down. But in the final seconds, the Cougars could not close a narrow three point gap. The game ended in a 42 to 39 loss, leaving the team one possession shy of a comeback.
Now sitting at 1 and 1, the Cougars will regroup and head out again on Tuesday, November 18 at 7:30 p.m. when they travel to face the Turner Lions. It will be another early chance to sharpen their identity and chase win number two.
