Drivers heading into Fort Worth from the west hit a major traffic wall this morning, as all eastbound lanes of I-30 near Walsh Ranch and Lost Creek came to a complete standstill following a severe crash involving a pickup and an 18-wheeler.
The wreck, which occurred just before 9 a.m., necessitated a heavy emergency response, with at least seven fire engines on the scene and a vehicle extraction underway. Witnesses reported a full highway shutdown, with drivers stuck for more than 30 minutes and no way through. Even tow trucks struggled to get into position.
Some motorists attempted to escape by crossing into the grass on the access road, but the DPS was quick to issue citations.
If you’re still planning to head east from the Benbrook area, take the back roads. Access roads may offer the best chance of avoiding gridlock as cleanup and investigation continue.
No official word yet on injuries, but the scene was serious. Keep an eye on live maps and stay safe.
